Benzoic acid

Benzoic acid is a colorless crystalline solid that is the simplest aromatic carboxylix acid. This weak acid and its salts are used as a food preservative and is an important precurser for the synthesis of many other organic substances. Uses: Food preservative, feedstock, chemical sysnthesis, and in ointment to treat fungal skin diseases.
